Swedish massage is therapeutic and relaxing. It should be long, gentle strokes, mostly in the direction to move blood back up to the heart, the center of the Circulatory System. This is the most common type of massage, usually to relieve tension, increase circulation, and to deliver oxygenated rich blood to tight muscles.
Deep tissue massage is an intense massage to reduce scar tissue, decrease inflammation, relieve chronic muscle tension, and address areas of pain. The strokes are usually slow and with firm pressure.
Sports massage is tailored to the athlete and their needs, usually related to the type of activity they participate in. It can assist with improving range of motion or flexibility, releasing toxins in fatigued muscles to promote recovery, enhance performance, and prevent injury.
